The second, shorter session (1.5-2 hours) is just a touch-up. Everyone heals differently, so this follow-up is crucial.
Commonly asked questions
Does microblading hurt?
Most of my clients ask what microblading feels like. I would describe microblading as a little ‘scratchy’ rather than painful. I use a numbing gel to keep you really comfortable.
How long does Microblading take to heal?
Your brows will go through a number of changes as you heal, they will appear a little darker around day 4/5 and then fade during the second week, this is due to the pigment being ‘hidden’ by the healing skin and is nothing to worry about. During the 3rd week, the colour will bloom back, and by week 4, you will have your healed result. You should expect some light shedding, but nothing more, and you will lose around 30% of the pigment after your first treatment, which will be reapplied at your control session.
How will I look directly afterwards?
Most of my clients will look perfectly normal after the treatment. If you are prone to rosacea or have very sensitive skin, you may look a little red around the area for a couple of hours afterwards, but this will fade quickly. Most people resume normal activities directly after the session.
What happens during the treatment?
At the consultation (which can be at the same time as your treatment), I will ask you about the look you would like to achieve and also advise you on the brow that will best suit your face shape and lifestyle. I then apply numbing gel to numb the top layers of the skin, making you as comfortable as possible. During this time, a custom colour will be mixed to match your brow/hair colour perfectly. I will then create the ‘template’ by drawing on your new brow shape with a pencil. I love your input at this stage of the process to ensure that you are happy with the overall look of the brows. Once you are happy with the template, the microblading will begin. Individual hair strokes are created within the new template using the custom-blended pigment. I will apply pigment to each brow two to three times. The final stage is the control session, which is around five weeks after your first treatment. This session is to make any tweaks to the colour or shape and add in any brow strokes that didn’t take.
