Microblading results can last anywhere between 18 and 30 months.
How long the procedure lasts depends on your skin type and preferences. Some skin takes to the pigment better, which is why the length between procedures varies so widely.
The pigments used in microblading naturally fade over time. However, you have the power to maintain your desired look through touch-ups.
Aftercare for the skin where microblading took place is similar to tattoo care, if a bit more intensive.
Immediately following the procedure, the pigment will appear quite dark, and the skin underneath it will be red. After all, needles are used to cut into the skin, so it’s typical to experience some redness and sensitivity immediately following.
Approximately 2 hours after microblading, it’s important to gently run a cotton swab dipped in sterilised water over the area. This will effectively remove any excess dye on your brows and maintain the area’s sterility.
It takes 7 to 14 days for the skin to appear healed and for the pigment to fade to its intended shade.
Follow these steps to take care of your skin after microblading:
Avoid getting the area wet for at least 7 days. This includes keeping your face dry during a shower.
Don’t wear makeup for at least a week. This is because the pigments are still settling into the shallow cuts in your skin caused by the blading.
Don’t pick at scabs, tug, or itch the eyebrow area.
Avoid saunas, swimming, and excessive sweating until the area is completely healed and you have a follow-up appointment.
Keep your hair away from your brow line.
Apply any medicated cream or healing balm provided by your technician as directed.
Immediately after the procedure, the pigment may appear a little unnatural. However, this is a temporary stage, and you can expect the pigment’s colour to darken significantly by the following day, moving towards a more natural shade.
It’s important to understand that during the recovery phase, your brows might appear lighter than their original shade due to natural skin regeneration. This can give the impression of rapid fading and unevenness. However, this is a normal part of the process, and a touch-up after about six weeks is often necessary to achieve the desired result.
As the skin begins to heal, it may resemble dandruff flakes or dry skin. However, this is merely a superficial colour, and dry skin naturally sloughs off your eyebrows. The definitive appearance of your eyebrows typically becomes evident approximately 30 days post-procedure.
Avoid rubbing the treated area, as this can impede the skin’s natural healing process. Once fully healed, remember to apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 to 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to sunlight. Sun exposure can accelerate the fading of the pigment colour.
When applying foundation, avoid the area around your healed eyebrows. Covering healed brows with foundation can lighten their appearance. Now, revel in your exquisite new eyebrows. You’re bound to adore your fresh, gorgeous look!
